Trader Joe’s announced earlier this month that it will be opening a new store in Miller Place, adding another location of the beloved specialty grocery chain in eastern Long Island.
The 13,500-square-foot store is under construction at 302 NY-25A, Miller Place, NY 11764, just west of Walgreens and across the street from Applebee’s.
It will be Suffolk County’s third Trader Joe’s and the easternmost location on Long Island. Trader Joe’s currently has a location around 10 miles southwest in Lake Grove.
Town of Brookhaven Supervisor Dan Panico indicated late last year that Trader Joe’s would be coming to Miller Place. In a post on Facebook last December, he announced the approval for a site plan for the “Market at Miller Place,” which he said “bears a striking resemblence to Trader Joe’s.”
An opening date for the new Trader Joe’s has yet to be announced.
Miller Place Get More Grocery Options
Trader Joe’s is known for its private-label snacks, organic produce, frozen entrées, and affordable staples, making it a strong draw for both local shoppers and visitors.
The new location will add convenience for eastern Suffolk residents and commuters while creating dozens of jobs and driving traffic to nearby businesses.
Miller Place shoppers currently rely on Stop & Shop in town and nearby options like ALDI in Rocky Point, and ShopRite and Uncle Giuseppe’s Marketplace in in Port Jefferson.
The new Trader Joe’s will add more variety to the area, joining these local and regional favorites.
