Wegmans is finally coming to Long Island. The company announced earlier this month that it will be opening a location in Lake Grove on February 26, 2025.
The 101,000-square-foot store will employ over 500 full-time and part-time workers.
This upmarket superstore will feature a cafe offering fresh sushi, poke bowls, pizza, and hot self-serve bars with chicken wings, Asian dishes, and more. It will also have a made-to-order sub-shop.
While many grocery stores are leaning heavily into self-checkout, Wegmans Lake Grove will strike a balance, offering equal numbers of full-service and self-checkout registers.
Shoppers will have plenty of parking — with 630 spaces available.
More Expansion Ahead
Wegmans, a family-owned company founded in Rochester in 1916, operates over 100 locations in eight northeastern states.
In addition to its Lake Grove location, Wegmans plans on adding two more stores by the end of 2025: one in Norwalk, Connecticut, and another in Rockville, Maryland.
In New York, Wegmans stores are concentrated upstate, though the company is slowly expanding downstate, with new locations opening in Brooklyn in 2019 and Manhattan in 2023.
A Beloved Brand
Wegmans has earned a devoted fan base for its high-quality products and customer service.
It has even been praised by the National Catholic Register as a company that embodies “the Catholic social vision that the dignity of persons, not the pursuit of pure profit, must be at the center of the marketplace.”
Wegmans has also ranked sixth on the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For® 2024, strengthening its reputation as an employee-friendly workplace.
