Stony Brook Medicine has been recognized as one of America’s 50 Best Hospitals for 2025 by Healthgrades for the third straight year, earning the highest level of achievement for excellence in patient care.
This distinction places Stony Brook Medicine in prestigious company. It ranks among the top 1% of hospitals nationwide — the only hospital system on Long Island to do so.

The recognition applies to the Stony Brook Medicine’s member hospitals: Stony Brook University Hospital, Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, and Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital, which are collectively evaluated by Healthgrades.
The America’s 50 Best Hospitals Award acknowledges medical institutions that consistently deliver superior clinical outcomes across multiple specialties and procedures.
Stony Brook Medicine has consistently moved up the ranks in since 2015, reaching the top 250 in 2015, the top 100 in 2019, and the top 50 in 2023.
Stony Brook University Hospital is the primary teaching hospital of the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University.
