Time is running out to experience outdoor skating at UBS Arena.
The Park at UBS Arena, the venue’s popular outdoor skating experience, will wrap up its public winter season on February 25, marking the last opportunity for skaters to hit the ice before October.
The close of its winter session also coincides with a week of special activities to promote the sport of hockey, part of the NHL’s Hockey Week Across America.
Skating at the Park at UBS Arena
The 155,800 square foot facility opened in December 2023 has two rinks: the Northwell Pond ice rink and the UBS Pond synthetic ice rink.
Northwell Pond hosts four-on-four pond hockey tournaments and is available for rental.
The UBS Pond offers ticketed skating events open to all visitors.
There are two different ways to enjoy skating at UBS Pond — and both offer 90-minute sessions open to ticketholders of all ages and skill levels.
The first is Pre-Game Skate at the Park, which takes place right before New York Islanders home games. The second is Community Skate at The Park, which takes place on non-game days or in the mornings before night games.
More Than Just Skating
Beyond skating, The Park at UBS Arena also has a Kids Zone featuring a slap shot booth, double overtime obstacle course challenge, mini golf, a dunk tank, and much more.
There are also food trucks parked nearby offering a variety of dining options — in case anyone gets hungry. With kids, that could happen anytime.
Hockey Week Across America
This week, the Islanders are celebrating Hockey Week Across America. The Park at UBS Arena will feature not just its remaining schedule of Pre-Game Skate and Community Skate at the Park events, but also instructional sessions: Try Hockey for Free on February 22 and a Coaching Clinic on February 20.
The links provided above will direct you to sign-up forms for these events.
